There was something big and weird swimming along Pensacola Beach in July 2016.
I saw a total of three of these during the week at Pensacola Beach, and I have no idea what they are. If you know — experienced Floridian, marine biologist, etc. — please let me know in the comments (on YouTube). Other people in the condo saw it, too, and no one knew what it was.
As best as I can tell (I didn’t get close enough to touch it), it is some kind of mass of something actively swimming against the current. It was see-through in parts, but didn’t look like a huge jelly fish. It was also about six feet long by four feet wide. Maybe brown-ish in color.
From my second floor balcony, I first thought it was just a mass of seaweed. But then it was moving too fast for seaweed, and against the current. Some other people from the condo went out and followed it for a while. Then another one came by, and that’s what you see in my footage. It’s not a shark, nor is it any kind of ray…I don’t know what it is, but filming it was exciting.
If you know what it is, please tell everyone!
